New York:: Prepared and sold by Professor A.C. Barry,. circa 1881. Dr. Barry's highly popular hair product tricopherous consisted of 97% alcohol, 1.5% castor oil, and 1% tincture of cantharides. Cantharides came from the dried, crushed bodies of the blister beetle or Spanish fly, which produced a caustic ingredient which was thought to stimulate blood supply to the scalp and promote the growth of follicles. Very popular in the 1840s, apparently it is still for sale as a cure for baldness, sometimes called "Tricofero de Barry". Printed in two columns, with instructions in German, French, Italian and Spanish. at the end. last page is lose, some edge wear and tearing, hard to find,
musty smell.
